A lot has happened the past few weeks with our church-planting and nonprofit endeavors in Burlington

I’ve handed off the day to day operations of Serve Burlington to my good friend Mike Bazemore.  He’s already doing an amazing job as director- reaching out to area congregations, networking with community service organizations, running the refugee move-in crew, taking the Bike Mechanic Workshop to another level, and helping a team of volunteers form a game plan for citizenship classes.

Burlington City Church held its first public worship gathering on Easter Sunday.  We had 30 people jammed into the Kids Alive space in Burlington’s Old North End celebrating the resurrection of Jesus.  We owe a big thank you to Pastor Doug Hoffman for opening the Kids Alive space to us and to Pastor Jim Stuart and North Avenue Alliance Church for providing chairs.  I’m so thankful for their friendship and kingdom mindset.  We aim to host another public worship gathering in a couple of months.

Last Sunday, April 15,  we launched our second Home Fellowship led by Phil Corriveau.  Phil grew up in Underhill, VT, graduated from the University of Vermont, works as a nurse at Fletcher Allen Hospital, and leads a Christian mentoring program involving 30 teen boys.  He and ten others have committed to live out the mission of Jesus together to the Winooski community.  God is already opening doors for them to serve others and share the gospel with their neighbors.

Even with the new Home Fellowship in Winooski starting, we still had fifteen meeting in our home on Sunday.  Our prayer is that God will give us the opportunity in the next few months to launch Home Fellowships in Burlington’s downtown area, New North End, South End, and Old North End.  Our people are buying into the vision God has given us, so we’re excited to see what He has in store.
