Sabbatical recap: stopover in NJ

After returning to Burlington to pick up the kids, we made a detour through New Jersey on our way to Pennsylvania.   We were in the New Brunswick area for only about 24 hours, but every block of that community has so many of memories connected to the six spent years we spent pouring ourselves out in helping start the Point Church.    Even more important than seeing the place was briefly seeing people we know and love.

A few highlights include…

  • Hang time with some of our former team who transplanted with us from GA to NJ eleven years ago.  Can’t imagine my journey without the Nussbaumers, Zilas, and Gentrys.
  • Seeing the pastor-elder team in action.  Tim, Thomas, Tony, Jon, and Steve are Godly men and great leaders committed to Jesus, His church, and their communities.
  • Worshiping at the Point Community Church’s newest venue (pic of Thomas Wong bringing the heat). The vision of neighborhood oriented congregations continue with ones noIMG_3119w in North Brunswick and Somerset, and ramping up for a third in East Brunswick.
  • Probably the most unexpected highlight was a 60ish year old woman approaching me as I was preparing to leave the worship service.  She said, “I just want you to know I was recently baptized in this church.”
