These are the notes from part two of a three week series on the foundational values that drive Burlington City Church. In part 1 we asked What is the church? and What is the church’s mission? For part 2 on March 25, we asked, How does this practically look in 2012 Burlington, VT? Continue reading

Burlington City Church- Vision & Values (part 1)
We’re excited about what God is doing in our Home Fellowship as Burlington City Church has moved from an idea to a concrete reality. As we’re preparing for Easter on April 8, launching our second Home Fellowship in Winooski on April 15, and looking forward to launching a couple of more in the coming months, we’re spending three weeks discussing the foundational vision and values that drive us as a church. Here are the notes from our Home Fellowship meeting on March 18. Continue reading
Transforming Power
I was prayer walking around Burlington this past Thursday and decided to stop at Battery Park where I could gaze across Lake Champlain towards the Adirondack Mountains in the distance. It was a perfect place to meditate on scripture and pray- early in the day and just cold enough that I had the park to myself. Continue reading
David Dabney joins our church-planting team
On and On and On from David Dabney on Vimeo.
I’m so excited to announce that David Dabney will be arriving in Burlington from New Jersey this Saturday evening. David is my close friend, a spiritual “little” brother, and an extremely gifted artist and musician.
Random Tuesday Morning Strategic Thoughts
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve spent some time digging into what the Apostle John records Jesus saying in John 6 and 7. This morning two major points stuck out to me about how Jesus approached ministry:

Yesterday, after our Home Fellowship meeting several of us headed to the edge of the Green Mountains to hit the trail and take in some views. As we trudged forward two things happened (the same two things that always seem to happen when hiking in the mountains): the trail became steeper and our legs grew more tired. Continue reading
Random Strategic Monday Morning Thoughts
This morning I’m spending some reading over my journal. Here’s some bullet points I jotted down after reflecting on our church planting endeavors here in Burlington. Continue reading
Big Prayers for 2012
Engaging Culture With The Gospel
You may not know this, but I have an affinity (possibly an addiction) for venn diagrams. For some reason these circles- along with various other shapes, lines, and arrows-help me process ideas. Below I’ve copied some thoughts I’ve been having over the past few years concerning how to best engage our culture and communities with the gospel. Naturally, it requires a venn diagram. I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback.
Boys & Girls Groups Christmas Party
Over the last year, I’ve heard a common refrain from Phil Corriveau and Steph Hobold, who respectively lead Boys and Girls groups focused on mentoring tweens and teens primarily from Burlington’s Old North End and Winooski: we want to engage their families with the gospel. Continue reading
