It’s hard to believe that only one year ago Serve Burlington launched the Conversational English Club in Burlington’s Riverside Apartment community.  We’re revving up for our fourth “semester” beginning next Tuesday, January 24, and I’m excited to see what God has in store.  (Be sure to check out the video at the end of this post.)  Here’s a snapshot of what’s driving my excitement:

• Our students (who are predominately Somali) are very excited about the CEC and advancing in their English proficiency.
• We have a solid team of around ten committed volunteers with an additional six jumping on board this semester.
• Our volunteers are evenly split between Jesus-followers and people from the community at large.
• Real friendships are developing between volunteers and students as well as Jesus-followers with those who are not.
